On 11/04/25 - wife and I travelled from Lichfield to try The Dilke, Indian bar & grill, Walsall. After nearly 2 decades, the food in pubs in Lichfield has become repetitive and boring. Well, what a surprise... Positives: They sell Worthingtons (love it), atmosphere is good, full of small groups, families and couples from varied cultures. It was quite busy but still a few tables available at any time. Place is clean, bright and staff are super friendly. Service for drink & food was excellent and food was absolutely spot on. Had chicken tikka Achari & chicken balti with naan. Price is excellent and portions good. I highly recommend this place and award 5 stars 🌟 Negatives: none Will definitely be going back

We recently dined at The Dilke and ordered a medium mixed grill and a lamb curry, accompanied by masala chips, dal, and garlic and plain naan. The food was exceptional, and the service matched the quality of the meal. The mixed grill was perfectly portioned, with each type of chicken offering different flavours, which is a refreshing change from the red tandoori flavours you normally get from a Indian grill. It was a great balance of variety and taste. The lamb curry stood out with well spiced, tender and generously sized chunks of lamb. The dal was a highlight – flavorful, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. Overall, this meal exceeded expectations, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Dilke as the pub has a great atmosphere, pool table and very comfortable seating.

Wow the desi lamb is top notch proper desi style, saag paneer banging, naan really tasty could do with being a bit bigger tho🤣. Jeera rice very nice. Eaten a few lamb curry’s in the Indian pubs but must admit they got the desi goat/lamb bang on here. Ample seating space and lots of tv showing the sport.

Visited The Dilke this afternoon and we ordered the Deluxe Mixed Grill with a plain and garlic naan. Wow! It was stunning, beautifully cooked and well presented. Everything was tender and juicy and so full of flavour and seasoned to perfection. The chicken was lovely and made a refreshing change from the Red Tandoori. Naans were gorgeous too with a nice crisp. The manager was very friendly and polite and the pub was cool and clean on what was an extremely hot day. Will definitely be returning.

I was welcomed by Sanj and lovely Bar Staff. Came to try their starters and i was recommended Chef's own recipe of chicken tikka and that was Yummy- certainly different with a twist. Highly Recommend it! Surely worth a visit.
